My Case For Acceptance Into The Program Essay - 1037 Words

Human society has developed to the point it has today due to one over-riding trait, an ability which sets us apart from all other living things – that is the desire and ability to identify and work towards solving problems. Our world today has enormous potential and faces enormous challenges, I aspire to be a part of the process of overcoming those challenges. I believe that research, learning, and creation of knowledge is at the core of the process. I have come to the conclusion that a Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley in Management of Organisations is my best pathway towards that. In the following paragraphs, I hope to present my case for acceptance into the program. My interest in understanding and studying human beings led to pursue a BA in Sociology. It was that very same interest, combined with my experiences with work and entrepreneurship which led me an MSc in Work and Organisational Psychology. That interest, which has sustained within by me for the enti rety of the adult life and which I consider as one of the defining aspects of my identity, will be foundational in all my endeavors and actions during the course of the Ph.D. program and future academic career. I believe that innate curiosity about the world around us, and the subjects which interest us are the fountainhead of knowledge creation. I believe so because my first research project originated from that curiosity and interest.
